Throw Away the Myths and Aquire the Facts

 "Dr. Fulton's Step-by-Step Program for Clearing Acne" by Dr. James E. Fulton was possibly one of the most interesting books I have ever read.  This book was all about the skin; my favorite topic!  It started out by burying the myths that manipulate people's view on acne.  This was followed by a deep description of how and why acne forms.  This was my favorite part of the book.  I was fascinated by how the sebum of the skin can clog pores and induce the acne process.  Dr. Fulton described the various forms of zits such as pustules, nodules, and cysts.  Later in the book, Dr. Fulton included a segment about benzyl peroxide, the medicine in which he claims is the best in controlling acne flareups.  He teaches his readers how to apply this medication the correct way since people mistakenly put the medication only on their zits.  Dr. Fulton includes charts and quizzes in order to personalize an acne regimen to the readers individual needs.

This book taught me A LOT about my future profession.  I want to be like Dr. Fulton.  He as been involved in so many research trials regarding acne that he knows how to control the disease.  I learned so much from reading this book that I feel like I could already diagnose and treat this disease to acne sufferers! One interesting fact that I learned is that the peeling that the benzyl peroxide medication causes on the skin means that the medicine is working!  I used to use benzyl peroxide until it began drying and peeling my skin.  I thought that the product was too strong for my skin so I stopped using it.  Now that I know that the peeling is just a necessary stage in order to get rid of the acne and loosen the impactions in my pores, I will go back and use this product again.

I recommend this book to everyone who suffers from this skin disease as well as to anyone else who has dermatology as a future career interest.  I trust that all the information in this book is legit since Dr. Fulton has received high-end education in this subject and has proof from all of his claims since he has been involved in years of research.
